Visual Arts
This term, our Foundation students are exploring visual arts with the guidance of the renowned artist Paul Klee as their mentor. Through painting, drawing, and collage, students will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills while delving into Klee's unique style and techniques. We will use a selection of captivating mentor texts to draw inspiration from. These texts will serve as a springboard for exploration, reflection, and artistic expression. By weaving together inspiring mentor texts with our visual arts curriculum, we aim to provide a rich and immersive learning experience for our students. Through art and storytelling.
Grade 1/2 students will be inspired by the vibrant and innovative works of the renowned German artist, Wassily Kandinsky. Through this journey, students will not only discover the beauty of Kandinsky's art but also explore his unique techniques and approaches to colour, shape, and form. Drawing inspiration from mentor texts and Kandinsky's distinctive style. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with various artistic techniques inspired by Kandinsky's work. From exploring the use of bold colours and abstract shapes to experimenting with different textures and compositions.
Our Year 3-6 students, term is centred around the mesmerising works of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt. Renowned for his luminous, gold-leafed multimedia paintings brimming with expression, colour, patterns, and symbols. Through Klimt's decorative painting style, students will explore the intricate patterns, rich textures, and symbolic imagery that define his iconic works. Drawing inspiration from Klimt's practice of incorporating personal symbols into his artwork, students will have the opportunity to create their own symbols that hold personal meaning to them. Through painting, drawing, and collage, students will experiment with various techniques and materials, honing their skills in the use of tools, paint, texture, and composition. In addition to hands-on exploration, students will engage with mentor texts that will not only provide insight into Klimt's life and artistic process but also encourage students to reflect on the significance of symbolism and personal expression in art.
