School Wide Positive Behaviour Support
Students across the school have had a wonderful start to their year, by participating in the Bright Beginnings program. Students have been learning about the values of our school (learning, respect, and safety), and have enjoyed practising the specific positive behaviours and expectations.
Students have learned about the 'Monty Money' reward system, as well as learning about earning 'Monty Dollars' to spend at the 'Monty Shop', where they can purchase different items as a reward for displaying the behaviours of the school.
At Hamlyn Views School, we use strategies and supports to promote positive behaviour, including (but not limited to):
- Using consistent and predictable routines
- Learning environments provide access to engaging learning materials and sensory tools
- Learning areas attempt to create an optimal sensory environment to promote learning and positive behaviour
- Consistent use of positive praise and reward systems
- Using positively framed language to highlight what we want the students to do
- Re-directing students back to learning or an alternative activity
- Incorporating students interests into their learning
