From the Garden

Welcome to the 2024 school year!

The start of the year is exciting for students with an abundance of produce growing, and lots of insect activity for our curious student entomologists.

We were very lucky that the storm front last week didn’t do too much damage, except for the collapse of four tall sunflowers. We are experimenting by staking them up to see if their root systems have survived the fall.

Our Foundation students have fully embraced the experience of time among the plants, making the journey to the garden once weekly to explore what’s growing and changing. They are already good at picking the ripe tomatoes (often pocketing one or two for family members to enjoy) and saving colourful seed from Painted Mountain corn cobs.

The Rainbow Lorikeets have kindly spared us some apples for harvest, and The Cooking Club have turned them into delicious treats for Hole in The Wall already.

We would like to thank the generous families who helped with care of our chickens over the holiday break. Our loyal regular carers have resumed their weekend care for us in Term One and we thank them very much.

We look forward to welcoming interested students to Garden Club on Monday lunchtimes.
