Starting Our New School Life

The Preps have had a lovely start to their school life, making new friends, learning new routines, and having amazing Grade 6 buddies to help them transition to life at St Mel's. There have been lots of smiles and eager faces each morning, and much fun had, learning new games and activities. Our main focus has been on how we can work and play with others, getting to know each other, and how we can 'be our best', 'respect our school' and 'help others succeed'.

*Morgan with her buddy Annelyse. We are learning so much about our school from our Buddies.

*Nathaniel getting to know his buddy Aiden.

*Investigations are the best part of our day. Morgan and Wanala love playing imaginative games with the dolls

*Building together - Oliver, Loris and Kelsey worked together to create a duplo house. We had to communicate and co-operate to be successful.

*SNAP! Matilda, Manav and Zara played a game of snap with the animal cards. They had to take turns and communicate with each other.

*We loved making our doves for St. Mel's Feast Day. This was our first liturgy at school.

*We learn about concepts by making and doing. Imi and Kelsey made bead bracelets by counting to 10.

Essendon Visit ~

The Essendon Football Club visited our school for a Q&A session with our students. The players who came were approachable and interactive, and they were highly impressed by the thoughtful questions and engagement shown by our students. It was truly a fantastic opportunity.

Our children were excellent audience members, displaying high levels of engagement and exemplifying our school-wide expectations of Do You Best - Help Others Succeed - Respect Our School.

Steve received a message from one of the organisers who was full of praise for the very enjoyable, orderly, calm and friendly way our children and staff welcomed the team, were attentive to the players and showed genuine appreciation for the activity. Well done to all involved.
