Invitation to Join our School Council in 2024

As of Tuesday February 6, we called for nominations to join the Newtown Primary School Council in 2024.

 

We currently have the following vacancies open for nomination:

6 - Parent Member Positions

2 - DET/School Employee Member Positions 

 

If you would like to nominate yourself or another eligible member of the Newtown PS community, please collect a nomination form from the school office or request for a form to be emailed to you via newtown.ps@education.vic.gov.au. 

As we are yet to receive any nominations, we are extending the acceptance period for nominations by 1 week. Nomination forms must be submitted to the office by 4pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. 

 

Newtown’s School Council traditionally meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm and will meet generally twice per term. Council members also have the opportunity to be part of focused School Council Sub Committees, these being; Fundraising, Finance, Sustainability & Environment, Wellbeing & Culture.

 

Being a member of School Council can be a rewarding way to be involved in the school’s overall direction, vision and contribute to various policy development. The first council meeting for current and newly elected School Council members will be Tuesday 19th March 2024. At this meeting, office bearers will be elected to positions (School Council President, Vice President, Treasurer etc).  

 

We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the following Council members who have come to the end of their respective two-year terms; Kate Judd, Nicola Shawyer, Nat Bugler, Gavin Coles, Julie Pocock, Max Tilley, Patrick O'Meara and Jarrod McKinnis. Retiring members are welcome to re-nominate for a further term, if eligible.
