Bottle caps
As part of an upcoming creative project, the kindergarten children will be collaborating on a special group art piece using recycled plastic bottle caps. This hands-on activity will not only be fun and educational, but also a great way to encourage environmental awareness and teamwork.
We kindly ask for your help in gathering clean plastic bottle caps of all colours, sizes, and types. Any caps you can donate would be greatly appreciated and will help make this project a colourful and meaningful creation. You will find a jar in the foyer to place your plastic bottle caps.
Thank you for helping us bring this exciting project to life!
Reconciliation Action Plan
We are incredibly proud and excited to share that our kindergarten’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has officially been approved! A huge thank you to Naomi who has worked really hard leading this project.
This is a significant milestone in our journey toward fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and understanding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The RAP provides a meaningful framework for embedding reconciliation into our everyday practices, curriculum, and community relationships — and marks our formal commitment to making our kinder a place where First Nations cultures and histories are deeply respected and celebrated.
What Happens Next?
With the RAP now approved, we will begin implementing the actions outlined in our plan. Some of the key steps include:
- Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our daily learning programs and celebrations throughout the year.
- Acknowledging Country at the beginning of gatherings and routines, fostering respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land.
- Professional learning for educators and staff to deepen cultural awareness and build confidence in teaching First Nations content.
- Building partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Elders to guide and inform our practices.
- Creating inclusive environments by displaying artwork, signage, and resources that reflect First Nations cultures.
This is just the beginning of an ongoing journey — one that will continue to evolve as we listen, learn, and work together. We thank all of our staff, families, and children who have supported this process so far, and we look forward to sharing more updates and opportunities to get involved.
Let’s walk together in the spirit of reconciliation!
KidsROAR Program
A heartfelt thank you to all the families who attended our recent KidsROAR parent information session. Your presence and engagement reflect our shared commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all children — and we are so grateful for your partnership.
The KidsROAR program was a huge success across all areas of our kinder community. The children’s sessions were delivered in an age-appropriate, engaging, and empowering way, helping our young learners build vital personal safety skills. Through stories, songs, and interactive activities, children explored important concepts such as recognising early warning signs, understanding body ownership, identifying trusted adults, and knowing that it’s okay to say “no” in unsafe situations.
Our educator information session also provided valuable insights and practical tools for staff to support children’s safety and wellbeing. It strengthened our collective understanding of how to respond appropriately to disclosures, how to embed protective behaviours into everyday routines, and how to build safe and trusting relationships with the children in our care.
While the KidsROAR program is a powerful step, it’s only the beginning. Keeping our children safe is a continuous and shared responsibility. Moving forward:
- Educators will continue to embed protective behaviours education into daily learning and play, and remain alert and responsive to children’s needs and concerns.
- Parents and carers are encouraged to keep the conversation going at home — using everyday moments to reinforce safe behaviours, talking openly, and creating safe spaces for children to share their feelings.
- All adults in our community have a role to play in listening to children, believing them, and ensuring they always feel safe, heard, and valued.
Thank you once again for your support in this essential program. Together, we are building a stronger, safer community for every child.
Lasiandra Stickmen
After reading "Stickman" by Julia Donaldson last week our Lasiandra group decided to make their own Stickmen! Their creations are just beautiful, and we loved seeing them create other characters such as "Leafman". The children needed to problem solve in making their creations, as to what they would stick their creation to and also how they would make their items stick to their cardboard. Absolutely fabulous problem solving and imaginations at work!
