Year 10 Wild Ed Abercrombie Expedition
Sunday started early for Year 10 Wild Ed students as they packed and jumped in the bus, bound for Abercrombie River National Park. This particular area has been chosen for Year 10 as it provides excellent opportunities for navigating over extended periods. The bush is easy to walk through, the views are lovely, and there are plenty of chances for students to work on their leadership skills. We were very fortunate to have fine weather throughout the three days so, although it was cold (probably sub zero overnight), we didn’t have the extra challenge of rain.
This trip is great practice for our snowshoe expedition in August with the cold conditions being a good test of equipment, resilience and perseverance. All the students did very well at leading themselves through the bush and looking after each other. Special mention should be made of Kael, Mitchell and Isabelle who have only started Wild Ed this year and have shown rapid growth in their character and skills in the outdoors.
