PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Moorabbin Primary School Community touch the land and think of the Bunurong People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation
who cared for the land before us.
We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging. As we touch this land, we promise to treasure it, taking care of all its people, animals, plants and waterways. We at Moorabbin Primary School appreciate this land.
Thank you.
Dear Families of Moorabbin Primary School,
ONE OF OUR AMAZING GRADE 6 STUDENTS, ARI D IS CUTTING OFF HIS LONG LOCKS FOR THE LUNG FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA.
Here are Ari's reasons for supporting this cause.
"Lung Cancer affected my family when we lost my Oma. I was 10 months old and all I have are photos for memories.
2.5 years ago, I started growing my hair and decided to chop it off to help raise money for Lung Cancer research.
Now it is time. I’ve set a date of Saturday 31st May, but I need your help to reach my goal of $1000.
Together, we can help shine a light on lung cancer and fund groundbreaking research. Every year, the Shine a Light campaign raises funds to brighten the future for Australians living with lung cancer.
Where there is light, there is hope. Please support me and donate today. You will make a difference."
DONATIONS WILL BE ABLE TO BE MADE EVEN AFTER THE "CUT OFF" DATE OF THIS SATURDAY, SO THOSE WHO WISH TO SUPPORT ARI WITH A FINANCIAL DONATION ARE ABLE TO DO SO BY GOING TO THIS SITE:

We look forward to sharing with you some before and after pics!
PLEASE HELP KEEP THE FLU AND COLD VIRUSES AWAY!
The winter months often bring a rise in seasonal illnesses, especially among children. With colder weather keeping people indoors and immune systems under added stress, viruses like the flu, RSV, and common colds tend to spread more easily in schools and daycares. It’s not uncommon for children to pick up and share these bugs quickly, even before symptoms become obvious. While many kids are resilient and bounce back quickly, it’s important to remember that not all children—or adults—have the same level of immunity, and what may be mild for one could be more serious for another. On average across the last two weeks, we have had 4-5 staff out per day and over 150 children absent across the school per day!
To help keep everyone as healthy as possible, it’s a thoughtful and responsible choice to keep children home when they’re showing signs of illness such as a fever, persistent cough, or other flu-like symptoms. Staying home not only allows your child to rest and recover more fully, but it also helps protect classmates, teachers, and families from unnecessary exposure. We all share a role in keeping our communities safe and well during the winter season, and a little extra care goes a long way. Thank you for helping us all stay healthier together.

UPCOMING SHOWCASES FROM OUR YEAR 5 AND 6 STUDENTS- PARENTS WELCOME!
We are excited to inform you that our students are currently exploring the rich history of early Australia, with a particular focus on the Colonialism and the Gold Rush. To enhance their understanding, we have planned an upcoming excursion to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat.
As part of this immersive learning journey, each student will be developing an 'autobiography' from the perspective of a character living during this period. This creative project aims to deepen their appreciation of the era's challenges and adventures, providing a personal connection to the historical context they will experience at Sovereign Hill.
To celebrate their hard work and creativity, we warmly invite you to attend our Character Showcase:
Year 5: Monday, 23rd June at 2:15 PM
Year 6: Tuesday, 1st July at 2:15 PM
During the showcase, students will present their autobiographies in character, offering you the opportunity to engage with them and ask questions about their personas.
To enhance the authenticity of their presentations, students are encouraged to dress up as their chosen characters. This could be as simple as wearing a hat, jacket, or even a drawn-on moustache. While dressing up is encouraged to enrich the experience, it is not compulsory. Students will change into their costumes after lunchtime on the day of their presentation.
We look forward to seeing you at the showcase and sharing in the culmination of our students' hard work and creativity.
CINNAMON DONUT FUNDRAISER
On Friday 6th June a few of our Year 6 parents are going to be selling $1 cinnamon donuts for *INTERNATIONAL DONUT DAY* 🍩 and to help raise funds for the end of year 6 graduation. Their events have been extremely popular and well received by the students.
