Principal Report

Mr. Lehane

Principal Conference

On Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 June, I had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Government Schools Principals Conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was an inspiring two days spent with over 3,000 school leaders from across Victoria, focusing on educational leadership, student wellbeing, and innovation in teaching and learning.

The conference featured insightful presentations from well-regarded speakers in the field of leadership, including Dr. Sonja Hood AM, CEO of the Scanlon Foundation and President of the North Melbourne Football Club . It was a valuable chance to explore new ideas that can enhance our work at Bridgewater Primary School.

Being part of this professional network reinforces the importance of our work and ensures we continue to grow as a school and as leaders. I'm excited to apply these insights to further strengthen the Bridgewater Primary School community and improve outcomes for all our students.

Reports

At Bridgewater Primary School, reporting is an important process where we review each student’s learning progress, celebrating successes and identifying areas for growth.

This semester, you may notice a change in how Mathematics is reported due to the introduction of the new Mathematics 2.0 curriculum. Students now receive a single, aggregated score encompassing all areas of mathematical learning instead of the previous three. As a result, students progression points may not move or in some cases even go backwards due to taking into consideration all areas of the Mathematics Curriculum 2.0. If you have concerns about your students progress please use the parent teacher conference as an opportunity to ask questions and clarify students progress.

At Bridgewater Primary School, we value open communication—nothing in the report should come as a surprise. If it does, it’s important that we talk it through together.

We encourage all families to read their child’s report carefully, celebrate their achievements, and consider ways to support their continued learning at home.

Pie Drive

The Pie Drive has once again been a huge success thanks to the hard work of our amazing parents. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the Pie Drive as well as anyone who ordered pies.

Although we don't have a final total it appears as though we raised more money than last year and we are looking forward to putting it to good use to upgrade some of our outdoor learning spaces.
