Year 8 Career Excursion
Visit to La Trobe University
Recently, our Year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to step into the shoes of university students during a visit to La Trobe University in Wodonga. The day provided a glimpse into higher education and student life.
They rotated around 3 different workshops. The first began in the biomedical lab, where they explored basic physics through hands-on experiments, taking on the role of budding scientists. Next, students participated in an interactive education workshop. Working in pairs, they took turns experiencing both the roles of teacher and learner through a range of activities. The day concluded with a lively scavenger hunt across the campus, adding an element of fun and adventure to the experience.
A highlight of the day was the delicious lunch, featuring a variety of pies and impressively large sausage rolls—clearly a hit with the group!
The enthusiasm and passion of La Trobe staff and students left a lasting impression, showcasing the welcoming and inspiring environment the university offers.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sally Mitchell from Country University Centre (CUC) and Jacqui Boehringer from La Trobe for making this fantastic opportunity possible. Special thanks also go to Mr White, Damien Loiterton, Lisa Norris, and Ash Clayton for their invaluable support on the day.
