STEM

Miss Rankin and Mr Richardson have enjoyed getting to meet everyone in STEM as a part of the specialist rotation. Many people ask us what is STEM? This stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We emphasise hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to explore, experiment, and problem-solve. We aim to focus on fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills. Activities may include experiments, coding exercises, building projects, and other interactive tasks that engage students in real-world applications of STEM concepts. The goal is to inspire curiosity, develop a strong foundation in STEM subjects, and cultivate a passion for lifelong learning in these fields from an early age.

So, if your child has recently come home asking to fill a balloon with ice and freeze it, build something with sticks or ask you to buy coke, mentos, balloons or popping candy it may come from activities in STEM.

Below are some pictures of experiments Year Four students have conducted as they continue to learn about Solids, Liquids and Gases.
