Parents and Friends Association (PFA)

Annalie Darlington

Hello everyone,

Thanks to everyone who attended the picnic last night, it was a lovely evening on the oval!

We have been busy planning the terms events, and the below should give you a good summary of everything we have planned. This year is a bit of a changing of the guard year on the PFA committee, as some events are being run by different teams, or current members are looking to step back.

The PFA is made up of many volunteers, with 100s of people, giving 1000s of hours throughout the year. We broadly split our volunteers into two groups, the committee and our helpers.

Committee: official members who are the decision makers and planners. Based on our PFA constitution this group can stand for a PFA position and officially vote on activities. Individuals from this group, run most (although not all) of the events. We meet 2-3 times a term for a meeting over dinner. There is an AGM each year in March to re-elect the official positions.

PFA helpers: non-official members who help run or help out at events. We aim to catch up with this group each term for a coffee morning and otherwise reach out on an ad-hoc basis to help as needed.

At the beginning of each year we try and assign roles and responsibilities for the new year, and officially elect the team at the AGM on 21 March. If you are interested in getting more involved, now is an ideal time to start. Please register your interest in the PFA , you can let us know the level of involvement you would like to have.

Colour Run

The Colour Run is great fun! Students have a blast running around the obstacle course while getting doused from head to toe in different colours. It’s a great opportunity for the kids to have fun and for parents to socialise over a BBQ and picnic. Tickets are on sale now via the parent hub.

PFA meetings

AGM - new members welcome

When: 21 March from 7pm

Where: PMPS staff room

We will have our AGM on 21 March where we will elect the Official Committee roles and those who wish to be PFA committee members will formerly sign up for the year.  We welcome anyone to come along and get involved. A few people are moving on this year, so we would love to see some new faces!

In this meeting we will report on the previous year's activities, talk about plans for 2024 and elect the official positions for this academic year. Only signed up committee members can vote. The School’s Principal, Mr Cain, will preside over the elections to ensure we follow the constitutional requirements.

Icy Pole Days

When: Every Friday in Term 1

Where: Gym kitchen

Cost: Gold coin

Icy poles will be sold every Friday through term 1 from the kitchen hatch. A special classroom delivery service will go to the prep classrooms before lunch. Please send a gold coin in with your child on Friday mornings. Due to time, we will not be able to offer change or let your child choose a flavour.

Please sign up to volunteer if you can help sell icy poles.

Hot Cross Bun Day

When: Tuesday 26 March

Hot Cross Bun Day is a new fundraising event this term. You can order Hot Cross Buns for your child/ren for lunch and they will be delivered to their classroom.

Gluten Free options will be available. Orders close: 5pm on 21 March 2024.

Easter Raffle

When: Wednesday 27 March

Children received 10 raffle tickets this week (costing $2 each), which can be sold to friends and family. The raffle will be drawn and prizes delivered to classrooms on Wednesday 27 March. If you can help us assemble and deliver the prizes please sign up to volunteer

Easter raffle donations

The raffle prizes are donated by our families (books, craft items, soft toys, baskets - and heaps of chocolate!!!). The more we receive, the more prizes we can put together (we usually aim for 100+ prizes!). Please drop donations to the office before 26 March.

Update your child's class

Every year you need to update your child’s class in the Parent Hub. We need this info to be correct as it is used for delivery of food orders (i.e. sushi, party pies, hot cross buns) to the right class.

Second Hand Uniform shop

When: Friday 15 March 8:30-9:15am.

Where: Classroom facing the oval (Clark St entry, closest to corner of Poolman St)

The next Second Hand School Uniform shop will be open on Friday. We also sell brand new House T-shirts.

Donations of clean, current and 'in very good condition’ items of PMPS Uniform would be appreciated.
