Congratulations to our teams this term

Term 1 was an extremely busy term for sport at Homestead.

The first interschool-sport set of sports that went out this term were Senior Volleyball and Tennis, and Senior Boys Cricket. All teams participated in a tournament on Monday the 26th of February against various schools in the Hobsons Bay Division cluster.

The Senior Volleyball teams played extremely well on the day, with both teams finishing in third place in their respective competitions.

After a tough tournament, the Senior Girls Tennis team came home with a second-place pendant.

Our Senior Boys Cricket team won their competition, with only losing one wicket throughout the whole day. This is an exceptional result and they will move onto the Western Region competition.

Homestead Sports Academy

After a successful first year, the 'Homestead Sports Academy’ is up and running again where students have been training and participating in various sports. This runs on Wednesday afternoons as students prepare for inters-chool sports where we compete in the Hobsons Bay Division.

During the first five weeks, we have done a variety of sports with a particular focus on cricket.  Students from years 10-12 all came down and participated in training and matches against each other. It has been amazing to see the sporting culture at Homestead grow with everyone displaying great sportsmanship and support for one another. This was also a great opportunity for the interschool sports cricket team to train for the upcoming tournament where they won and will soon be competing in the Western Metropolitan Region.

The next focus of the Sports Academy will be on three different sports, which were: Badminton, 

Netball and Soccer. During these sessions, we are hoping for an even bigger turnout as we continue to grow as a sporting community, and we want to give students of all year levels and abilities an opportunity to participate and potentially compete.

We are extremely proud and grateful for the efforts the commitment shown by each and every one of the students who attend the Homestead Sports Academy. It is amazing to see this culture at Homestead each week.
