Our 2024 International Student Leadership: Fiona, Amelia, Catherine and Bijoy

Introducing our International Student Leadership

With great excitement that we introduce our new International Student Leadership to the school community. Our captains are dedicated to lead our International Students to a remarkable study journey at NHS. Leading the charge are Fiona Zhang and Catherine Nguyen from Year 10, Amelia Dao and Bijoy Gupta Shovan from year 11. Let’s take a moment to get to know more about them!

 

Flora Zhang

My name is Fiona Zhang, I am from SuZhou (JiangSu, China). I came to Australia in 2023. My hobbies are gardening, baking, photography, board games and crafting. I hope to travel around the world in the future. I am a “E N T P” (If you know how to decode this, let’s be friend!) I have a 4 point plan for my achievements as part of the international student leadership team:

§ Collaborate: To work closely with team member to solve problems.

§ Learning: To improve my level of learning constantly and broaden my horizon.

§ Innovative: To bring new ideas and solution to the team.

§ Grow: To continuously grow interpersonally and leadership skills. I am driven to succeed and dedicated to contribute to every project we undertake!

 

Amelia Dao

My name is Amelia Dao. I am in year 11 and currently one of the international captains for 2024.I arrived in Australia from Hanoi, Vietnam in 2023 to commence my secondary studies at NHS. I hope to study at university in Melbourne and I am interested in a dentistry career. For me, as a captains, I’d try my best to learn and share, foster inclusivity and being proactive in activities. I’m hoping to be a approachable person that can assist international students to make them feel welcome and included.

 

Bijoy Gupta Shovan

Hi from Bijoy, from Bangladesh. I love the thrill of ghost hunting. I am passionate about uncovering mysteries. After high school, I plan to dive into the world of aerospace engineering at university, blending my unique hobby with my academic ambitions. As the international student captain, I plan to introduce new activities and programs that help students feel better mentally and socially. I’ll also work on ways to help international students easily become part of the campus and local community.

 

 

Catherine Nguyen

I am Catherine Nguyen. I came to Australia to commence semester 2 in 2023 from Vietnam. At my school in Vietnam, I was a “Broadcaster” representing year 9. I was also the head of broadcast department of a non-profit organization. I have been a MC of events at my secondary school in Vietnam. My hobbies are broadcasting, swimming, singing, tennis and also, I play violin. I hope to become an architect in the future. During my time as an international captain, I hope to gain more experience for the future as a leader. I will be able to help international students to easily transition to such a new and different environment in Australia.

 

Our former International Captains Quan and Renee are now part of the School Captain Leadership as School Captain and Wellbeing Captain.
