Year 7 Cricket
It wasn’t ideal conditions for our Divisional Baseball and Softball competition which was held at Mill Park Softball and Baseball club. The high temperature and strong winds did not deter our players, many who had not had much experience in the sport. Our Year 7 boys just missed out on the the win against Preston. Our Year 7/8 Softball team also lost to Preston. Our Year 9/10 boys had a comfortable win against Preston and now move through to the Regionals in April. Our Year 7 Boys Baseball and our 9/10 Girls and Senior Girls Softball all progress through to the next round due to no other schools in our Division entering teams. Thank you to our student coaches Indigo Rogers, Ella Taylor, Charlie Cook and Bailey Hartman.
Congratulations to all of our Year 9/10 players who recently competed in the Divisional Competition at Reservoir High School. It’s pleasing to see our students in action and showing their great skills and team work. We had four teams competing with both of our A Teams narrowly missing out for the win in some tough finals matches. Thank you to our student coaches Minke Cooke, Aaron Fuaux, Vincent Wang and Miles Clancy. A big thank you to Ms Hales for helping us out with team selection, with short turn around times, this is no easy task.
Our Year 7 boys team went out on cricket this week and had a great day! The boys were so encouraging to each other, and also the opposing sides. We came away with 2 wins and 1 loss, but it didn't affect any of their attitudes. With compliments even om the umpires, it was great to see smiling faces all day. Our student coaches Harry Gruenert and Ethan Priest were awesome with the Year 7s, getting them pumped and ready, also making sure that everyone had a go batting and/or bowling if they wanted.

The Year 9/10 cricket boys had a great day out. The boys unfortunately didn't make it through to the next round. It was a very well-rounded performance for all the boys, who showed great team spirit and competitiveness right until the final ball. They all had a great time out and showed a true Northcote spirit. Tom Sweetman and Soul Stewart did a great job coaching the boys.

Northcote High once again hosted the Division Swimming Carnival at Fitzroy pool this week. We had a team of 55 swimmers compete in all events throughout the program. This day is always a huge success with many of our students qualifying to compete in Regionals which will be held at Watermarc on March 27. We had a lot of wonderful students from our swim team who helped out with timing of races. They did this in between competing in their own events. Without their help we just couldn't run such a successful carnival. Thank you all for your great team work!
