Prep News

Mrs Jo Towill

Recent highlights this term have included the Junior School Cross Country, Mother's Day Afternoon Tea, the Education Week S.T.E.M day and the National Simultaneous Storytime Session. Prep students had fun creating a pop up card and drawing/writing about their Mum/Special Person with their Grade 5/6 Buddies. They also loved having a hot dog and juice 'special lunch' and creating/building/designing a variety of constructions on the S.T.E.M day in their House Groups.

Learning in English has continued to involve letter formation and sounds for the letters 'd, e, f, v, l, k, r, u, j, w and z', writing and reading words, reading our take home books, and writing sentences. We read many fiction and non-fiction books relating to penguins. We had an igloo at the front of our classroom while learning about non fiction texts on the topic of penguins in Antarctica.

Our learning in Mathematics has covered measurement (length) and numbers 11-20.  We measured many different things around our classroom including measuring the length of our shoes and the number of letters in our names. We used blocks, counters, pegs, icy pole sticks, and a variety of other items to measure with.
