Education Week

The theme of Education week is a

'Spotlight on STEM'. Thishighlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives, in the classroom and beyond.

Last Friday  we celebrated Education week with the students working collaboratively to engage their curiosity and apply their knowledge across the 4 disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  Whether it was creating a foil boat that would withstand weight without sinking, constructing a tower that would remain upright, designing a marble run or building complex structures, the students spent several hours designing, problem solving and testing their hypotheses.

The day concluded with a special lunch provided by our fabulous ES staff.  Well done everyone!

Facilities

Exciting news on the Capital Works Front!

Excavation has started to prepare the area for the deck build and for our landscaping. The water problems have been solved and the construction team will soon be replacing our fire service. This work will occur out the front of our school and may affect our pick up and drop off procedures.  Please stay tuned for further information.

In the next few weeks there will be contractors onsite to remove and prune some of the trees in our school. We have had an arborist report conducted and will follow up on the priority actions within this report.

Child Safe

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2024 is ‘Now More that Ever’.

It is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.

National Reconciliation Week is a chance for all schools to reflect and learn more about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Child Safe Standard #1 ensures organisations establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

At BPS we:

  • encourage students to express their culture and enjoy their cultural rights
  • embed strategies which equip all members to acknowledge and appreciate the strengths of Aboriginal culture and understand its importance to the wellbeing and safety of Aboriginal children and young people
  • identify, confront and not tolerated any racism at school
  • activity support and facilitate participation and inclusion by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
  • ensure all policies, procedures, systems and processes create a culturally safe and inclusive environment and meet the needs of Aboriginal children, young people and their families
