Be thankful! (And don’t forget your mum!!)

I have had many close calls in life…. From avoiding the London bombs, surviving a disaster on the Red Sea to just missing a hurricane. I often felt like I was thanking God all the time for keeping me safe.

There are so many things to be thankful for in our lives. When we are down though, it can be hard to find things to be thankful for. If you dig deep though I’m sure there are things to be thankful for.

From the program – Growing with gratitude. From PositivePsychology.com it outlines that Gratitude is an emotion similar to appreciation, and positive psychology research has found neurological reasons why so many people can benefit from this general practice of expressing thanks for our lives, even in times of challenge and change.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says - 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

God asks us and wants us to be thankful in our lives. We do have many things to be thankful for and my wish is that you be thankful to others and to God for the many wonderful things that do happen.

Look for the little things in life. Being thankful really does help us appreciate the good things in life.

This weekend we recognise and give thanks to all mothers. I wish all mothers celebrating on Sunday a very happy Mother’s Day and hope you are spoilt.
