From Our School Leaders

Education Week

We had a fantastic Grandparents and Special Friends Open Morning this week.  It was wonderful to see so many grandparents and special friends coming in to school to see all the amazing things that we do here at Scoresby PS. The BYO picnic on the stage/undercover space was also a great success.

Our Open Evening was also a very well attended event.  The theme for this year’s Education Week was ‘Spotlight on STEM’.  Students and parents to got experience a variety of exciting STEM activities including robotics, maths games, building the highest tower, and science experiments.  Our PFA organised a sausage sizzle and Tina ran the canteen for us on the night, which was a big success.

Thank you for supporting our school, and your children, during Education Week.

Mother's Day Stall

On Friday 10th May, our PFA ran the Mother's Day stall. There was a range of lovely gifts this year, with students having the opportunity to purchase something really nice for mum. The most sought after gift was the dual bracelets that sold out very quickly.

Thank you to the committee and to the PFA for their organisation of this event.

Mothers Day Breakfast Club

Saying "thank you" to our mothers for all that they do to support us is very important, and it was wonderful to see so many children with their mothers and grandmothers enjoying a breakfast of croissants, muffins and fruit.  Tina did an amazing job decorating the hall to make it special for all of our mothers and grandmothers.

Sickness And Illness

These past few weeks have seen the colder weather return, and this also brings us into the cough, cold and flu season. We have had many children who are unwell.

We encourage you to keep unwell children home, as this helps prevent germs and viruses transferring to other children and staff. We appreciate you assisting us with this. We know that children sometimes have mild symptoms and teachers are happy to send work home for students on request.

In the classrooms, we are continuing with our hygienic processes. Hand sanitiser, air purifiers, and open windows for access to fresh air when possible, are all measures to ensure the classroom environment is as free of germs as possible.

Attitude To School Survey Years 4-6

Just a reminder that Scoresby Primary School will once again be participating in the Attitude to School Survey (AtoSS). The AtoSS is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. This year, the AtoSS will be conducted at Scoresby PS school from 6th May until 14th June. If you do not want your child to participate in this survey, please email kellie.symons@education.vic.gov.au to let us know.
