Principal's Message

Good afternoon Parents/Carers,

Welcome Back for Term 2.  All students have settled in very quickly with their learning and adjusting to the new timetable.  We look forward to a very productive Term.

Bell Times

As advised last term, we have commenced our new timetable with the following changes:

9:00am - 11:00am - Session 1

11:00am - 11:25am - Play Break

11:25am - 11:50am - Eating Time & Play

11:50am - 1:35pm - Session 2

1:35pm - 2:00pm - Eating Time & Play

2:00pm - 3:00pm - Session 3

Crunch & Sip

In Term 2 we will be introducing Crunch & Sip into our daily routine in First Session.  We ask all parents to ensure your child has a piece of fruit/vegetables and water to start the day with.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Colour Run

Thank you to all who participated in our Colour Run for 2024.  We have raised a total of $4335.00.  A fabulous effort from all of our students and staff.  A lot of fun was had with many smiling faces covered in colour and slime.  Prizes for those who fundraised will be distributed in the coming week.  A big thank you to the RFS Werris Creek for providing the water fun and P&C for providing a BBQ lunch and refreshments for all to enjoy.  Lastly, thank you to the Parents/Carers for your support in helping with the fundraising effort and cheering on your children on the day.

School Assembly

Our last assembly for Term 1 was held on the last day of Term.  K/1/2B provided an item that was very entertaining.  Thank you to all of our Parents/Carers who came to support our students.

Sentral for Parents

We have noted that some parents are using the Sentral Portal to send messages direct to our Classroom Teachers.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity at this time to facilitate this function and request that all written enquiries be directed via our school e-mail address: werriscrk-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or by contacting the school office between 8:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday during the school term on 6768 7065 to make an appointment with your child's teacher.

Anzac March

Thank you to all of our students who attended the ANZAC Day March and ceremony held by the Werris Creek RSL Sub Branch on Anzac Day.

We appreciate your attendance in remembering and honouring our fallen soldiers and those who are currently serving in the armed forces.

A special thanks to Jack, Tahlia and Haidee, our School Captains for laying the wreath on behalf of Werris Creek Public School and to Piper and Lillian S for laying the wreath on behalf of the Werris Creek Public School P&C.

TFSS Educational Programs

Our 2/3/4O and 5/6W will be participating in some educational programs with Tamworth Family Support Services.  The first of which was held today.

2/3/4O - Feeling Fantastic - this program aims to help kids understand their feelings and emotions, such as anxiety and depression and learn how to express these emotions in healthy ways as opposed to internalising them.

5/6W - Rock and Water - this program works on building self-confidence, self-respect and self-reflection through the physicality of martial arts training.  This program has shown to decrease bullying and depressive feelings as well as increase self-esteem, self-regulation and social acceptance.

Cross Country

Our School Cross Country will be held next Monday, 6th May.  More details to come.
