Health & Physical Education
Health and Physical Education students had a busy end to Term 1 and have started Term 2 with lots of new and exciting activities.
Years 7, 8 and 9 students have all recently worked hard on their Health and Wellbeing CATs, which were completed before the Easter break. All junior year levels have just started their Drug, Alcohol and Addiction Units of work, with varying tasks being completed within the year levels.
Year 7 students are enjoying their introduction to ‘Striking and Fielding’ with lots of modified games and activities for students to practice throwing at targets and hitting a variety of balls with different items. Students are working towards a CAT where they will be assessed on their practical progress.
Year 8 students have been very engaged in their Invasion Sports unit where they are participating
in lots of sports and working as a team to come up with different strategies and passages of play. The students are very competitive and enjoying the competition against one another.
Year 9 students have just started their Fitness activities in PE and will complete a terminology test throughout the term. The students are also completing major games for the term. When both classes are scheduled at the same time students participate in a round robin of the Term 2 sports. So far we have played soccer and look forward to playing netball in the coming weeks. In Health, students have started their ‘addiction’ unit of work, with lots of great discussions and interests around different addictions.
