Ryan’s Rambling

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! Term Two has started with a very positive vibe across the school. I am always very proud of how well our students acclimatise back into school life.

This week, we welcomed some new staff to our team here at Dana Street. Olivia Du Rieu has joined our office team and has fitted in exceptionally well. Olivia has years of experience as an assistant director in childcare, and as a regional manager in Out of Hours School Care. She brings with her many skills that have already been beneficial to our office operations. Our staff have been very welcoming to Olivia, so if you are in the office, please pop in and make her feel welcome.

We also welcomed Maya Richards to our team. Maya has hit the ground running in the 3/4 classroom, with many students happily continuing their learning from Term 1. Many parents have had the chance to pop in and make Maya feel welcome, but I encourage you to do so, if you haven’t yet had the chance.

I need to inform you all about some further changes to cash handling processes at schools. The Department of Education continue to update and refine their policies around cash handling, and it is becoming ever increasingly difficult to manage cash. We have had to consider this, moving forward, and we are unable to offer cash payments at many of our upcoming future events. The first of these to be affected is the Book Fair, in a couple of weeks’ time. I understand that this may inconvenience some parents, but it is something that we feel that we need to do in line with financial policy and process. Rest assured, EFTPOS and other methods of cashless payment will be offered. Thanks for your understanding.

I will be absent from Dana Street for the next two weeks, whilst I am on leave. Kylie Watson will be our very capable Acting Principal whilst Kym Bursill with be our Acting Assistant Principal. Our school is in very capable hands with our wonderful team.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Ryan 😊
