Interschool Sport Reflections:

Interschool Sport - Frances McKeown

Every Friday in Term 2 Grades 5 and 6 could choose what sport they wanted to do for Interschool Sport. The options were netball or footy/AFL. We would go to another school or they would come here and you play and game of netball or footy/AFL together. There are two netball teams so we usually play two games of netball. Last week we went to St Mary’s Malvern East and they had two teams as well so we could play two different teams instead of playing the same team twice. We had so much fun playing all together and it was amazing how so many people gave it a shot even though they had never played netball before. Everyone put in a great effort. Everyone loved learning about the positions and how the game worked. We all showed amazing sportsmanship and leadership. We are all improving the more games we play.

This term year 5s and 6s have been doing Interschool netball and football every Friday.

We have played three games so far and have enjoyed playing and making new friends with other schools. Everyone showed great sportsmanship and participated even though not everyone knew how to play at first. Everyone has improved a lot since their first game and encouraged their teammates.

These past couple of weeks years five and sixes have been doing interschool footy and netball every Friday from 12 to 3pm and it's super fun. So far we have played St Mary’s and Sacred Heart in footy, and so did netball.

We had just one game with quarters of ten minutes with footy but with netball, they play one game but when there is a large amount of people they play 2 games.

With footy we didn't have enough players so we had to borrow 4 - 6 people from the opposite team.

Everyone played really well, the game was full of teamwork and encouragement and overall everyone enjoyed it and it was really good and exciting.
