Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break. As we begin this new term, I am filled with anticipation for the exciting learning experiences that lie ahead. Our wonderful teachers and staff have been hard at work planning engaging lessons and activities for our students.

"Welcome back, students, to Term 2! We are thrilled to embark on an exciting journey of learning together. This term promises new adventures, discoveries, and opportunities for growth. Wishing you all a fantastic term ahead!"

Changes to Staffing

I want to share some important updates regarding our staff members. Firstly, we bid farewell to Mrs Bianca David, who has been an integral part of our school community. Due to family reasons, Mrs David will be stepping away from her role. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Additionally, we extend our sincere gratitude to Mrs Lisa Chung, our dedicated Learning Support Assistant, who has also decided to move on to new opportunities. Mrs Chung's commitment to supporting our students over the past eight years has been invaluable, and we thank her for her hard work and dedication.

As we say goodbye to these valued members of our team, we are pleased to announce that Mr Chris Knapman will be joining us as the Year 2W teacher, starting from Term 2. Mr. Knapman brings with him a wealth of experience and enthusiasm and is well-known to the students. We are excited about the positive impact he will have on our students.

Please join me in wishing Mrs David and Mrs. Chung the very best for the future, and in welcoming Mr. Knapman to our Holy Family community.

Towards 2025 vision:

GOAL 2: WE WILL ACCOMPANY STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND STAFF TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO GROW IN FAITH

By 2025 our students, families and staff will be encouraged and supported as they discover the meaning of Christ in their lives. Family, school and parish relationships will thrive helping to form our young people in Christ’s vision of life, as it has been interpreted by the Catholic community of faith over many centuries.

During the two-week break Mrs Stella, Mrs Edwards and I participated in the first module of a 2-year CSBB Leadership Formation Program. The module, Living Our Values - is based on our Catholic Schools values of faith, joy, witness, compassion and courage. This module is a journey through Bishop Anthony's Pastoral Letter to the Diocese to the CSBB values, their place in our leadership at Holy Family in the Diocese of Broken Bay and their connection to the scripture that inspires them.

"Under the leadership of the Bishop we are committed to maintain focus on our purpose; to collaborating in the mission; to applying evidence-based practice in all our endeavours and to delivering the vision as we strive to be at least as good as the very best."

The module is an opportunity to delve deeper into the values that underpin all that we do. We were able to read and reflect on each value, pondering where it can be infused into our practice both personally and professionally. I look forward to sharing more about our reflections in the coming weeks.

SPARK - Supporting Potential Among Remarkable Kids - Day of AI

SPARK is a project set to cater for high ability and or gifted students within a domain that they have a proven record of achievement in. We aim to bring together high ability and like-minded students in an area that they show enormous potential. There are three separate domains we are looking to cater for through the project - the intellectual, the creative and the social and emotional domains.

Our five pilot North Shore schools - Corpus Christi St Ives, Prouille Wahroonga, OLPS West Pymble, St Bernard's Berowra and Holy Family Lindfield have come together to plan various days in which these students are brought together at our various locations to take part in a fun, explorative and engaging way.

Each of the schools have agreed to send just 5 students each and so it has been necessary to develop a strict selection criterion for inclusion in each of the days. If your child's teacher and Mrs McNally, as our Gifted Education teacher have selected your child you will be hearing from us very soon.

The first two days had a focus on Creative Arts and Mathematics and the feedback from students, parents and staff have been extremely positive. The third day at OLPS West Pymble will be a day for the Stage 3 students to learn all about the wonderful things AI can do. The students will share their experiences with you in upcoming newsletters.
