**Exploring Canberra: A Memorable Educational Journey for Year 5/6 Students**
Last week marked an exciting adventure for our Year 5/6 students as they embarked on an enriching educational tour of Canberra, the heart of Australia's political and cultural landscape. The trip was more than just a mere excursion; it was an immersive experience delving into the depths of Australia's history, culture, and democracy.
Throughout their time in Canberra, our students were engaged in a diverse range of educational programs meticulously designed to broaden their understanding of our nation's heritage and democratic processes. From exploring iconic landmarks such as Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial to interactive workshops focused on civics and citizenship, our students were provided with a comprehensive insight into the foundations of our nation.
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the trip was witnessing firsthand the functioning of our nation's democracy within the chambers of Parliament House. From observing parliamentary debates to participating in simulated legislative sessions, our students gained invaluable insights into the democratic principles that underpin our society.
It is worth noting the significance of such educational tours in shaping the civic consciousness of our young Australians.
PACER GOVERNMENT REBATE PROGRAM
Recognising the importance of fostering civic engagement and understanding among our youth, the Australian government has taken proactive steps to facilitate these experiences. Under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program, the government generously contributes $45 per student to assist families in meeting the costs associated with such excursions. This support underscores the government's commitment to ensuring that all young Australians have the opportunity to visit the national capital as part of their civics and citizenship education.
The Canberra educational tour has left an indelible mark on our students, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to become informed and engaged citizens of Australia. We commend our Year 5/6 students for their exemplary behaviour and active participation throughout the trip, embodying the spirit of curiosity and learning. We eagerly anticipate the continued growth and development of our students as they apply the lessons learned from this unforgettable journey in their academic and personal endeavours.
