Accountability

Yesterday's Voluntary Briefing Summary

Toilets and petition - FYI

As you may be aware, our school has recently been featured on SkyNews and 3AW regarding the new toilet block planned for the next stage of our renovations. Unfortunately, this coverage has led to some abusive messages being sent to our reception, likely from online trolls. We are grateful, however, to the many parents who have taken the time to share their views respectfully and inclusively, even when they do not agree with the chosen model.

We have also been informed that students are being asked to answer a survey as to what kind of toilet facilities they wish to have. Please know that many parents are disappointed that their children's opinions are being sought when their children are not aware of the context and when parents have not given permission for their children's opinions to be used.

To ensure that the students are informed, Janet and Nancy have spoken to every class today from Year 2 to Year 4 and showed them a map of what the new toilet block will look like.

We explained that these are our priorities when planning toilet facilities:

  • safety
  • cleanliness

Here's an AI visualisation of what it will look like:

2026 Classes and teachers

There might be some last minute changes with classes and teachers. Kim is going through each class list and the final versions will be available early next week (most likely on Monday). Thank you for your feedback, suggestions and patience.

Attention ESS Staff - Please check your WWC details on eduPay before end of this term

From Monday 26 January 2026, eduPay will automatically validate staff Working With Children Checks (WWCC) daily, alerting managers to changes and auto-updating expiry dates. This important initiative strengthens compliance across the department by improving the monitoring and management of WWCC across our workforce.

What do you need to do before end of term 4? All staff who require a WWCC need to ensure their WWCC number and surname details on their physical card are an exact match in eduPay. If the details in eduPay don't match your / staff's physical card - you will  be reported as 'invalid' against the WWCC register in eduPay. There are two support guides to assist you with this short & simple task - a detailed Reference Guide and a quick visual Mobile Guide

Please let me know if your details don't match.
