Lou Update

Lou, our beloved wellbeing dog, recently celebrated her first birthday! Although she’s only one, this equates to the maturity of a prep-aged pup—but Lou is already on the sensible end of the spectrum. Even better, she’s reached her full size, which is much smaller than anyone expected. That means she’s perfectly lap-sized, ready for cuddles whenever you need a moment of calm.
Lou has been busy learning new tricks! She’s working on giving a “high ten,” taking a graceful bow, catching the ball (not just fetching it), and staying calm around people in high-vis vests.
Like many dogs, Lou recently went through her “one-year-old fear phase.” For three tricky weeks, she was nervous around men—especially those in hats or without hair—trucks, and anyone walking outside the classroom. With patience and care, Lou came through and is once again her relaxed, friendly self.
Lou loves pats and spending time with students. One of her favourite things is joining the Wellbeing Club in the garden. Each day, she happily potters around with a dozen or so students, enjoying the sunshine as everyone relaxes together.
Last weekend, Lou was also lucky enough to go away to the beach for a weekend with our principal, Maria. She loved playing fetch, running on the jetty, exploring a new garden, and (don’t tell Kerry!) sleeping in Maria’s daughter’s bed instead of in her crate!
We’re so proud of Lou and all the calm, joy, and smiles she brings to our school!
