What’s happening in 5V

As we near the end of the year, we have completed the core of our assessments, we’ve participated in school events, and we are looking at applying our learning in different and interesting ways.

One of those ways has been to come up with a product to ‘sell’ within a set budget, so that the product can be pitched, Shark-Tank style. Students have had to research and find materials, work out unit pricing and profit, net pricing and profit, and also consider the further costs of running their businesses for a year: wages, utilities, building rent, advertising, etc.

This has been an extension of the Talk Money program that came out to LPS Grade 5s, looking at our beliefs and thoughts about money, discussing saving strategies, and answering questions students might have.

We’ve also had the opportunity to be visited by some EMC students to learn about healthy eating habits, hosting a workshop filled with fun activities and interesting information.
