Year 1/2 News

Narrative Texts
This term, our Grade 1/2 students have been working hard to create their own narrative texts. They have planned and drafted their stories to include a clear beginning, middle, and end, along with an interesting problem and solution. Students have also been learning how to use dialogue and descriptive language to engage their readers and bring their characters to life.
They are now moving into the publishing stage, using the iPads to type up their final pieces. Students will also be carefully creating illustrations that connect meaningfully to their stories.
We can’t wait to see their wonderful finished narratives!
Maths- Open Ended Problems
In Grade 1/2, students have been applying the skills they have learned throughout the year.
They have been using the four main operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—to solve a range of open-ended problems, showing their growing confidence and flexibility as mathematicians.
Our Grade 1/2 students have been buzzing with Christmas excitement!
Last week, they worked hard to write thoughtful letters to Santa, carefully sharing their wishes, questions, and all the wonderful things they’ve been doing this year. The excitement reached a whole new level when the students had the chance to walk to the school mailbox and post their very own letters.
Now, we wait eagerly for our replies from the North Pole. Fingers crossed that Santa’s mail elves are already on the job!
