Year 9 Industry Week

At the start of Term 4 our Year 9s created their own resumes, wrote cover letters, applied for jobs and went through an interview process to be offered a position in the Year 9 Industry Week enterprise. It was encouraging to see how seriously they took the process, preparing thoroughly and dressing up professionally for their interviews.
Through the Journey Program in Year 9, Industry Week, (which has it’s roots in ‘Factory Week’ back in the days of Cycle classes for Years 7-9), was re-framed for students to be imagining what a hope-filled future looks like, and how they can contribute to it through their day-to-day choices in how they speak, act and treat others.
Students must manage the tensions and stresses that arise from having to work with and for each other, including needing to lead and manage their peers.
With a more substantial lead up to Industry Week (Week 10) there were excellent preparations all round, and it really showed through the quality of products created and on Market Night itself last Thursday.
Taking on a Christmas theme and moving the market to the covered courts to resemble a typical weekend market proved to be big hits. There was live music performed by students, a roaming santa and even a karate demonstration! Well done to every Year 9 involved, you all helped to make it a memorable end to the year!
Special thanks to the many that stepped up to lead including; Mila, Eve, Chelsea, Sully, Leni, Paige, Poppie, Joseph, Abi, Lachie, Jett, Mr Allison, Mrs Vanderjagt, Mrs Verhagen, Mr Boyle, Ms Zhong, Mrs Malcolm, Mrs Smith, Mrs Capon, Ms Cho and a massive thank you to Mr Ang for stepping up in a big way at the last minute.
