SLA Learning

SLA Excursion

Last week SLA had the opportunity to head into the city to visit Carlton Gardens, Melbourne Museum and Melbourne Parliament House. Parliament House was the main event with students experiencing a hands-on connection to their ongoing LLF learning about relationships and connectedness. SLA did an excellent job of debating important topics of parliament at the moment, as well as being actual members of parliament.

"It was a warm sunny day on Friday 10th November, SLA went on an adventure to Parliament House in the city.

First, we went into the legislative assembly, the lower house of the Victorian Parliament to debate about plastic straws. We experienced how the government makes decisions, but we were the ones debating. After that we went on a tour around the Parliament House. We got to see the legislative council where the royals sat in the very seat that we were sitting in; we also visited the parliamentary library.

After the Parliament House, we went to Carlton Gardens where we got to eat lunch. Shortly after, SLA went for a walk to the park to have a play, then went to Melbourne Museum. At the museum we visited two exhibits. After all the fun and excitement, SLA had to put their adventure to an end making their way to the bus. Little did they know the adventure wasn’t over just yet. For TWO WHOLE hours SLA was stuck on the Ring Road because of traffic.

Finally, all tired out and exhausted, we all got off the bus and went home."  By A.D and C.T
