Our Kinder students celebrate 100 days of school today! A variety of number-themed activities were available for the students as they learned more about counting and the number 100. Students were invited to come to school dressed as if they are 100 years old. We love the enthusiasm around the dress up! Students have had a fantastic day of learning and fun.
We love learning in different ways in Grade 2, and over the past few weeks we have had many learning adventures!
During the second last week of Term 3 students enjoyed a swimming lesson each day. Courage the Lion came along with us to see students being risk-takers as they learnt new skills – just in time for summer!
The following week the Grade 1 and 2 classes visited Kingston Park as part of their Unit of Inquiry into how and why places change over time. Students completed mapping activities, investigated natural and manmade features, and listened to Mrs Beadle tell some interesting and funny stories about her time as a student at Kingston High School, which used to be on the site. We were very thankful for the blessing of sunny, warm weather which allowed us to enjoy our time outdoors, as we explored, observed, inquired, and wondered.
This term, students are enjoying a series of three gymnastics lessons at the Kingborough Sports Centre. There’s lots of equipment to learn to use and skills to develop. Students have used balance beams, rings, the trampoline and - an undoubted favourite - the foam pit. It has been challenging but lots of fun too.
Term Four has also seen us begin a new Unit of Inquiry into the ocean environment, including the ways in which people impact and alter oceans. Last week, we were very excited to have a visit from Mr Josh Bennett, who is studying for his PhD in Marine Science. Mr Bennett told us all about his research into sea urchins. He helped students to understand more about what scientists really do each day, and how their work helps people and the environment. Students were inspired by his enthusiasm and knowledge, and many now want to become scientists!
This week, we are looking forward to an excursion to the Woodbridge School Marine Discovery Centre on Thursday. We are also preparing for a visit from a Marine Biologist in the following week. We give thanks to the Lord for all the opportunities we have to learn more about His beautiful, amazing and complex world.

We are continuing to have a number of cases of head lice reported in our Primary classes. To eradicate this annoying and expensive pest, we do need all families to check their children's hair and treat them prior to sending your children back to school. Treatment is not a one off fix - it does need to be repeated to make sure they are gone. Please check your child’s hair today!
