Teaching and Learning

Karen Whelan, Deputy Principal - Staff, Teaching and Learning

As you read this, the VCAA exam period will have commenced and our Unit 3 and 4 students will be reaping the rewards of their hard work. The Year 10 and 11 students are completing their final CATs and applying their revision skills in preparation for their upcoming examination period. Upon the conclusion of the examinations, they will move into their VCE Transition Program, commencing their next year’s learning and ensuring that they have what they need to be successful for the beginning of 2024.

The Year 7 to 9 students are also preparing for their final CATs and are greatly looking forward to their end of year programs. Our Junior School students continue to be involved in classroom learning activities and assessments and a variety of wonderful incursions and excursions.

World Teachers' Day

This Friday, the last in October, is when we celebrate World Teachers' Day in Australia.

First celebrated in 1994 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1966 Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers in Paris established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the International Labor Organisation (ILO), it is now an annual event and a chance to acknowledge and honour the remarkable contributions of teachers worldwide to society.

We always celebrate our wonderful educators and recognise the lasting impact they continue to make on all the students who come through Shelford. Hardworking and dedicated, our teachers live the school values of respect, integrity, passion and creativity every day in their classrooms and beyond. We thank them for their loyalty and dedication.

This Friday we will be treated to a morning tea hosted by our Prefects. How will you be celebrating?
