Year 8 Volleyball – State Championships

On Wednesday 8th of November, the Year 8 boys volleyball team competed in the State Championships at Dandenong Stadium. The team had a tough first match against McKinnon Secondary College, dropping the first two sets. They were able to come back for consecutive 2-set wins against Catholic College Wodonga (20-17, 20-10) and Daylesford Secondary College (20-12, 20-10). This meant our boys made it through to the semi-final against Victoria University College. Lalor won the first set 20-18 and dropped the second set 12-20. The third set was an absolute nail-biter, with the lead changing multiple times. In the end, VU College narrowly won 16-14. The Year 8 team has trained together all year and as a school, we could not be proud of them. A huge thank you again to our wonderful coaches: Jhoey and Jakeh, for their efforts throughout the year. Bring on 2024!

Don’t forget to bring your hat for sport and PE classes. Hats and sunscreen are encouraged for students and staff outside when the UV rating is 3 or higher. This can occur even on cold or cloudy days!

The free SunSmart app tells you when sun protection is recommended and shows current UV levels. During the day's sun protection times, use all five SunSmart steps for the best level of protection.
