It has been a busy term within the Junior School at Lalor Secondary College with a number of transition events occurring over past few weeks. 

On October 31st we had our first visit from our 2024 year 7 cohort ho visited the school for their ‘getting to know you day’. I was wonderful to see the exciting new additions to the college and have them begin to settle in and experience for the first time, a little of what secondary school life is like.

On Thursday the 16th of November, the junior school hosted the year 7 2024 information evening. Our newest students and families visited the school to hear about what to expect as our newest arrivals and inductees to the college. Thank you to all the families and students that came along and engaged in the presentations and asked questions. And a very special thank you to all the staff involved in the evening and welcoming the 2024 cohort. 

Our next big step for the 2024 year 7 students is the Orientation Day that will be occurring on Tuesday December 12th. All year 6 students will be visiting Lalor Secondary for the entire day to get their first experience of full day of high school. We look forward to welcoming them all again on this day.

The Lalor Secondary End of Year Program begins on Wednesday the 6th of December. The End of Year Program is provided to our students in year 7 to 9 as an alternative to the regular teaching and learning program. Students are engaged in a variety of activities and experiences to see them to the end of the year and celebrate their achievements across the year. Students will be involved in year level excursions, magic shows, an amazing race, and much more.

Students end of year reports are being finalized and will be available to view for parents and students very soon. Please keep an eye out on compass for this. The reports are a great opportunity for families to reflect on their child’s progress, celebrate successes and look to set goals for 2024. I would encourage all to take the opportunity before the year is out to view and reflect upon them.
