Sacred Heart Junior Chef

Congratulations to our team of Year 4 students who represented St. B's in Sacred Heart College's Junior Chef Competition over the last two weeks. You've already seen our first round pancake efforts and this week Eleni, Samuel, Eve and Lila went into the Grand Final prepared to cook up a pasta storm. After a delicious practice session, our team went into the final cheered on by family and friends feeling both nervous and excited. The nerves were quickly quashed though as they united in their efforts to produce a spectacular result in their allocated 1hr and 5 mins. Teamwork, kitchen skills, time efficiency, cleanliness, presentation and positivity were second to none and we couldn't have been prouder of their efforts. The feedback from judges was very positive and you were definitely Number 1 in our eyes.  Congratulations to Our Lady of The Rosary Kyneton on their Victory you were formidable Junior Chefs and deserved winners of the title. We extend a massive thank you to the Sacred Heart Community for hosting this event and giving our students this amazing experience.

Greater Western Water National Water Week Poster Competition

Late last term students utilised their Sustainability lessons to produce a poster with the theme "United by Water" to enter into Greater Western Water's National Water Week Poster Competition. The theme was interpreted in a multitude of ways by students throughout our school illustrating their connection to water, the way it impacts their lives, how they can use it sustainably and behaviours that help care for water in our environment. Our students are very aware of how essential water is to life on Earth and we think this competition is a chance to remind ourselves just how many ways water contributes to our daily health and wellbeing. It also serves as a reminder of how fortunate we are to have clean water so readily available to us. If we remind ourselves of how important water is in our daily lives then it is our hope that our students take action to conserve and look after it, protecting it for future use.  Our artworks are always met with such positivity and gratitude from the GWW team who always make our art and contributions feel so valued and this year was no exception. Last Tuesday Nicole from Greater Western Water came out to a special assembly at school to announce 6 lucky St. Brigid's winners who were chosen from over 800 entries across our region.

Nicole from GWW says their team looks forward to St. B's entries each year and as the person entering our posters I couldn't be prouder of what all of our students produce each year and this year was no exception. A big thank you from me for all the time and effort you put into your artworks.

Junior Landcare - Love Letters to the Land

The first few weeks of Term 4 Sustainability sessions has seen us creating "Love Letters to the Land" to enter into the Junior Landcare Competition. As you can see children reflected on an aspect of nature that they "love" and that has special significance to them and the results were spectacular. The link to all our St. B's entrants is here if you want to check out our fabulous entries by scrolling to the bottom of the page/image gallery. Love Letters to the Land - Junior Landcare

The passionate letter writing blew me away and here are just a few examples of our talented student's writing prowess.

My dearest daffodil,

How splendidly you grace the earth with your golden presence, a testament to nature's divine artistry. Each time I behold your delicate blossoms, my heart swells with a profound sense of awe and gratitude. In your vibrant petals, I see the embodiment of joy, the essence of hope, and the promise of new beginnings.

As you emerge from the earth, heralding the arrival of spring, you bring with you a sense of renewal and rejuvenation. Your cheerful demeanor, swaying gently in the breeze, fills my soul with tranquility and peace. How gracefully you dance under the caress of the sun, as if celebrating the very essence of life itself.

Oh, daffodils, you are more than just flowers; you are symbols of resilience and unwavering strength. In your blooming beauty, I find solace and inspiration. Your presence reminds me of the beauty that exists in simplicity and the profound impact of a kind gesture.

With every petal, you whisper tales of ancient landscapes and timeless beauty. Your fragrance lingers in the air, a sweet reminder of life's fleeting yet precious moments. You teach me the art of embracing change, for just as you bloom anew each spring, I too can find the courage to start afresh.

I am grateful for your existence, for in you, I find not just a flower, but a source of endless wonder and contemplation. You are a reminder of the magic that surrounds us, waiting to be discovered in the small, everyday things.

Dear Autumn,

Oh Autumn, oh Autumn, you're my favourite season. I stare out the window gazing at your beautiful leaves swaying to the ground. You make me happy watching your branches sway in the wind. As I walk through your trees in my backyard the leaves on the ground crunch and tickle my toes.  At sunset I get a perfect view of your beautiful red and orange leaves.

Each year you never change your beautiful leaves as the cold winds begin. Nothing ever changes my love for you, deep down inside me. You don't how much I appreciate you

From yours truly Ruby.S
