Learning and Teaching

We are excited to announce that in 2024 we will have five specialist classes each week; Digital Technologies, Physical Education, Performing Arts (Dance, Drama and Music), Art and Japanese. Our Sustainability and Cooking classes with Emma will continue termly and within our Discovery and personalised project time (I-time and Genius Hour sessions). 

 

We hope this newsletter finds you well. As we step into the end of the school year, we are excited to share the incredible progress and achievements of our students at various grade levels. Our young learners are thriving as they delve into a diverse array of subjects and experiences. Let's take a closer look at what each year level has been up to:

 

 Prep 

**Retelling Familiar Stories:** Our youngest learners are mastering the art of retelling familiar story tales. Their storytelling skills are blossoming as they recreate beloved narratives.

 

**Math Adventures:** In mathematics, prep students are revising their numbers and counting skills. It's inspiring to witness their confidence in handling numbers grow day by day.

 

**Exploring Materials:** As budding scientists, prep students are exploring the concepts of materials that float and sink. Hands-on experiments are sparking their curiosity about the physical world around them.

 

Juniors 

 

**Exploring the World of Arrays:** Our youngest learners have been fascinated by arrays. From rows of building blocks to grids of chocolates, they've been having fun learning about multiplication in a visual and engaging way.

 

**Diving into Information Texts:** Junior students have taken their first steps into the world of information texts. They are discovering the joy of non-fiction, learning to find facts, and developing their research skills.

 

**Mini-Beast Adventures:** It's a world of wonder for our juniors as they explore the lives of minibeasts. From ladybugs to spiders, they're understanding the vital role these creatures play in our ecosystem. The incursion was an inspirational morning where students questioned, wondered and explored. 

 

Middle 

 

**Journey Through the Solar System:** Our middle school students have been on an incredible journey through our solar system. They've been learning about the planets, moons, and the vastness of space, expanding their horizons beyond Earth.

 

**Gazing at the Night Sky:** In preparation for their upcoming camp excursion, students have been stargazing and discovering the mysteries of the night sky. Telescopes and curiosity in hand, they are ready to explore the cosmos.

 

**Reciprocal Reading Success:** Our middle schoolers have embraced the reciprocal reading approach, enhancing their comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills. It's wonderful to see them engage with literature.

 

** Excursion:** The students recently travelled by train to explore the Bendigo Discovery Centre and visited the Planetarium for some hands-on science exploration. 

 

Seniors 

 

**Wellbeing and Enterprise:** Seniors have been focusing on their overall well-being and exploring the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Guest speakers have shared their experiences, inspiring our students to dream big and think creatively.

 

**Advanced Math Strategies:** They've been taking their mathematical abilities to the next level, delving into more complex subtraction and addition strategies. Problem-solving has never been so exhilarating!

 

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our students exhibit in their learning journey. Our teachers and staff continue to support and nurture their development, ensuring each child's unique potential is realized.

 

As we move toward the end of the school year, we eagerly anticipate the continued growth and exploration of our students. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our educational community.
