This Term for Friendship Groups, our theme and focus is Feeling and Being Safe & Treating Others with Kindness! This focus works in conjunction with our Respectful Relationship Curriculum, which is focused on problem-solving.
Our first lesson of the unit today was on safety. Where do we feel safe? How do we feel safe? What makes us feel safe?
We discussed how our bodies know when something is unsafe and that we are the boss of our own bodies!
In the lesson, the students thought about 5 people whom they know and trust as being their safety team. They created a poster that they can keep somewhere safe! Knowing who the people are in your safety plan enables students to know who they can go to for help. You may like to create something similar at home for your family!
We briefly touched on the importance of e-safety! This is something we will continue to discuss this term! There are heaps of great resources you can find at https://www.esafety.gov.au/
There is also a kids' e-safety site where they can get information! https://www.esafety.gov.au/kids
After this, students created their own special reflection stones out of polymer clay. These will be used during Circle Time Reflections!
