Week 3 Already! Enjoying the Autumn Sunshine
Can you believe we’re already in Week 3 of Term 2? Time is flying, and it’s been such a joy to see everyone settling back into routine so smoothly. What’s made the start of term even better is this absolutely beautiful autumn weather! The crisp mornings and sunny afternoons have created the perfect backdrop for learning, playing, and connecting with one another.
As we continue through the term, please remember that my door is always open. If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to touch base, don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can email, call, or pop into school—whatever works best for you. I'm always happy to chat and support in any way I can.
SPELLING ACTIVITIES TO TRY:
Spelling Fun – Connecting Sounds, Words, and Movement!
We’ve been working on spelling by learning sounds and using that knowledge in fun, hands-on ways. One of our favourite activities is playing games where we match pictures to words—it’s a great way to reinforce learning while getting kids moving and thinking!
It’s amazing how much more memorable spelling becomes when we connect the brain to the body. This kind of active learning helps children internalise sounds and word patterns in a playful, meaningful way.
Want to try it at home? It’s easy! Write the names of everyday items (like "cup," "sock," or "book") on sticky notes and hide them around the house. Ask your child to find the object that matches each word, then have them spell out the letters aloud to you. It’s a simple, fun way to boost spelling skills while keeping it interactive and engaging.
Happy spelling!
F/1/2 PHOTO TRAIL EXCURSION
Just a reminder that on Tuesday 13th of May, the F/1/2 students will be participating in the annual Photo Trail at Maroondah Dam. The Photo Trail day involved students using photo clues to unlock a secret sentence. They need to walk around and find all the clues. There will also be some fun activities and games on the day as well.
There is a permission slip on NForma to fill out. If you have not yet done so, please do this ASAP and make sure that all medical records are up to date.
The bus will be picking us up at 9 am. We usually return by 2:30 pm- we will keep you posted via email and Facebook if you would like to collect your child earlier than 3 pm. The kids are usually very tired when we get back.
Children are to provide their own lunch and water. Glass containers are not permitted for drinks. Children can bring a small bag that has their lunch in it.
Students are required to wear full sports uniform on the day. They will need suitable runners as the day will involve a lot of movement.
A jumper and jacket would be advised as it can be cold.
