From The Royal Children's Hospital
In our latest RCH National Child Health Poll on the flu vaccine, we found that only 61% of Australian children are likely to be vaccinated against the flu this season, according to parents.
Influenza can lead to serious health complications, even in healthy children, and the flu vaccine is the best way to protect your family from getting seriously unwell with flu this winter.
In Victoria, the flu vaccine is free for kids aged six months to five years, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, pregnant women and people with some medical conditions and is available at doctor’s clinics, council immunisation services and some pharmacies.
In some states, the flu vaccine is available at no cost for all children and additional adults. Speak to your healthcare provider for the most up-to-date guidelines for your state or territory.
