 Sacrament of Confirmation

Last night, our Year 6 students, along with their sponsors and families, gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, a beautiful expression of faith, unity, and community.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Les Tomlinson, with Fr Gallacher concelebrating. It was a special parish celebration shared with students from our neighbouring parish schools, St Mary’s, East Malvern and St Roch’s, Glen Iris as well as parish candidates, with around 90 students receiving the sacrament together. It was a wonderful experience of our wider parish community coming together in faith.

Each candidate renewed their baptismal promises and was anointed with the sacred chrism, receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide them throughout their lives. As part of their preparation, students each chose a saint’s name, inspired by the values and virtues they hope to live by, with their sponsors standing proudly beside them.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Smith and Mrs O’Dwyer for preparing the students so beautifully and accompanying them at the Cathedral. We also thank Mrs Marinelli for her leadership and presence at this special parish celebration.

We congratulate our newly confirmed students and thank their families, sponsors, and teachers for the care, encouragement, and faith they have shown throughout this time of preparation. Please continue to keep our Year 6 students in your prayers as they live out the gifts of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives.
