Get ready for our annual College Parkrun Takeover — a much-loved event where the St Mary’s community “takes over” the volunteer roster at Cairns Parkrun, while also participating in this free 5km community event!
If you would like to volunteer for various marshalling, scanning, and checkpoint roles, please email Clare Robertson or Andrea O'Grady.
Date: Saturday, 15 November (Week 6)
Location: Northern end of the Esplanade, opposite Guyala Café
Time: Meet at 6:45 am for a 7:00 am start
Dress: Please wear your school sports uniform
Parkrun is a free, international community event held every Saturday morning that encourages active living and positive social connection. As we approach the end of a busy year, this is an excellent opportunity to come together, stay active, and support our physical and mental well-being.
If you’d like to join in, you’re encouraged to sign up for a free Parkrun barcode, which can be scanned after each run to record your results and track your progress as part of the Parkrun community.
Register here: www.parkrun.com.au/register
(Please note: a barcode is not required to participate — everyone is welcome!)
Congratulations to our incredible St Mary’s students who represented Peninsula at the QLD School Hockey Championships!
13–15 Years Team: Laen and Mia
16–19 Years Team: Blair, Lacey, Evie, and Addison
Both teams finished in the Top 4 — an outstanding achievement against tough competition!
A special shoutout to Laen and Evie, who also represented Cairns in Team 1 and won GOLD at the U16 State Hockey Championships on the Gold Coast during the holidays.
Laen has also been selected for the U16 Queensland Squad, with trials scheduled for early 2026.
We’re so proud of all our athletes for their talent, dedication, and teamwork.

Our Junior Rugby League Team has kicked off the season with two thrilling home games at St Mary’s College, facing off against strong competition from Woree and St Augustine’s. The boys have shown incredible determination and grit, with both matches going down to the wire.
Special mention to Blaze Murphy for an outstanding all-round performance, and to Bailey Thomas, whose blistering pace and spectacular try lit up the field!
We’re immensely proud of the team’s progress and the spirit they’ve shown on and off the pitch.
Next Match: Wednesday, 5 November, 4:00 pm
Opponent: Bentley Park
Venue: SMCC Oval
Let’s rally behind our team—come down and cheer them on as they continue their exciting campaign!
