YEAR 9
Growing Together

Head of Year 9 smcqueen1@cns.catholic.edu.au
We would like to extend our congratulations to the many Year 9 students who applied for a Junior Leader position in 2026. Interviews have been conducted this week with maturity and confidence, demonstrating strong leadership potential. Successful nominations will be announced in Week 6, and we commend all applicants for their enthusiasm and commitment.
The VPG Work Experience interviews will take place on Monday and Tuesday of Week 5. Students have been emailed their individual appointment times. If there are any concerns or scheduling issues, please contact Mrs Earl, our Careers Officer.
Students are reminded to bring a completed application form and a copy of their resume to the interview. Sample questions were shared and practised during SEL sessions to ensure students are well-prepared.
As we reach the midpoint of the term, many subjects are entering the drafting phase, with final assessments and exams approaching. We encourage families to refer to the Assessment Planner available on our College website to support students in managing their workload and preparing effectively.
Current Year 9s will join our compulsory Laptop Program in 2026. This means all students commencing Year 10 in 2026 will receive a leased laptop from the College. Further information will come out in the coming weeks.

This week, students have been reminded of the importance of securing their personal belongings throughout the school day. We ask for your support in reinforcing this message at home.
Students are expected to store items such as mobile devices, laptops, textbooks, and other personal possessions safely in their locked lockers during the day.
For those who ride to school, bikes and e-scooters must be secured to the racks provided in the bike shed with a lock. This helps ensure the safety of their property and supports a respectful and responsible school environment.
We appreciate your partnership in helping students care for their belongings and maintain a safe, orderly college community.

RACQ is developing a new education program specifically for adults to equip them with practical and tangible strategies to help support young novice drivers – whether they’re learners, provisional licence holders, or even passengers.
To make sure this program is genuinely useful, RACQ’s Education Team would love to hear from you.
If you’ve ever mentored, or are currently supervising a young driver, or spent time in the passenger seat offering guidance (or silently pressing your foot on your imaginary brake), we would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the short survey and share what you wish you’d known.
Your insights will help build a resource that truly supports supervisors and mentors, and ultimately, safer roads for everyone. At the end of the survey there is also an option to enter the prize draw for the chance to win one of five $100 egift-cards.
