Grade 1 Religious Education – Jesus Feeds the 5000
This week, our Grade 1 students explored the story “Jesus Feeds the 5000” through a special Godly Play presentation. The children listened carefully as they heard how Jesus shared five loaves and two fish with a large crowd, showing God’s love and care for everyone.
After the story, students reflected on what it means to share and care for others. They enjoyed responding creatively through drawings and discussions, expressing how small acts of kindness can make a big difference—just like in the story.
Their thoughtful reflections and colourful pictures are now on display, reminding us all of the power of generosity and faith.

Narrative Writing
Recently in the 3/4 Unit, we have been learning about the structure of narrative texts. To help us plan our own stories, we used a fun brainstorming activity where we paired together unlikely characters — for example, a meerkat and a gorilla, or an ant and a shark. We then developed each character’s motive — something they need or want — such as an elephant searching for its family after a storm, or a lizard hoping to find a new pair of shoes. This approach helped us generate interesting story ideas and stay focused as we wrote.
