New Leadership for 2024
2024
Assistant Principal - Brent Syme
Dear Saltwater Community,
My name is Brent Syme, and I am very excited to be the Assistant Principal for Grade Two in 2024. I have been immersed in the world of education for just over 10 years now where I have supported students learning through reading intervention, with a majority of my time spent as a classroom teacher, and most recently as a Leading Teacher supporting Grade Two students in addition to also a little bit of acting Assistant Principal roles as well where I’ve supported the Grade Two & Five's in 2023. In this new role, I look forward to supporting the Grade Two students throughout the year from how subjects are planned to the engagement through excursions, clubs and other exciting activities to help support our students not only academically, but emotionally as well.
Next year I am very grateful to have Sarah Mason join me in her role as the Grade Two Leading Teacher. Additionally, beyond my work with the Grade Two students, I will continue my work with the broader school community to further support the improvement focus on student attendance and engagement.
For those who don't know me, outside of school I am kept very occupied by being a father to my beautiful, busy and eager-to-learn 2-year-old daughter, Mylah, with my wife Sylvia. We are also very excited to meet our new addition to our family another baby girl in February of next year! When we find some spare time we love going out together for day trips, playing board games or even building Lego together.
Wishing you a very safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all again in the new year!
Assistant Principal - David Vivoda
Dear Saltwater Community,
My name is David Vivoda and I am honoured to be announced as an Assistant Principal at Saltwater College for 2024. It brings me excitement to be able to continue to contribute to the cultivation of our internally minded students here at Saltwater College.
Throughout my teaching and leadership career, I have spent the past 8 years working in both mainstream and IB schools. In 2016 I started my teaching career at Altona Meadows Primary School and then I moved to Seabrook Primary School in 2018, where I worked until coming to Saltwater P-9 College in 2020. During my time here, I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to meet the Saltwater Community and become a part of its culture. Since 2020 I have been a Learning Specialist and Leading Teacher here at our school and it has been a position where I’ve had the privilege to support and develop children and staff in their understanding and knowledge. Having dedicated the majority of my teaching career to the International Baccalaureate programme, I am confident to say that this exceptional programme genuinely nurtures and directs both students and educators, fostering the development of internationally-minded citizens.
As an Assistant Principal at Saltwater College, I will endeavour to guide our students, staff, families and the wider community through our core work in connection with our mission, vision and school strategic plan. I am very thrilled to continue to work alongside the wonderful community that Saltwater has. I can’t wait to be a part of this new journey we will be taking together in 2024.

Acting Leading Teacher - Amberly Morison
Hello Saltwater Community,
My name is Amberly Morison and I am very excited to announce that next year I will be the acting Leading Teacher for Year Five.
I have been a staff member at Saltwater College for three years, working in both the Primary and Secondary Schools as a Classroom Teacher, Unit Leader, and Learning Specialist. Prior to this, I have worked at different schools for a number of years, predominantly in 5/6 classes with a range of lower Primary and Specialist classes mixed in with some positions of leadership.
Throughout my career, I have focused on building a rapport and connection with each and every student as well as immediate and extended families where possible. I incorporate a variety of different activities and strategies both in and out of the classroom to ensure students feel heard, seen, and a part of the learning process.
In 2024, I will be working in a classroom two days a week in Year Five as well as guiding and building the professional practice of all teachers and learning growth of our students.
Outside of school, I am a mad netball fan where I attend the Melbourne Vixens games and umpire at the local stadium as a National B Badged umpire and mentor to those learning the craft.
Within this new role at Saltwater College, I will work alongside the leadership team to guide our students, staff, and families through our core work in connection to our school values. I look forward to working alongside you all and taking part in this journey with you.
Acting Leading Teacher- Deanna Kotevski
Dear Saltwater Community,
My name is Deanna Kotevski and I am excited to embark on a new role as the Leading Teacher for Year Four. In my role I will continue to work with students, staff and families to improve student outcomes and work alongside Saltwater's values.
I may be a familiar face around the school as I started at Saltwater College in 2020, however I have ten years of experience teaching in the middle years. I have been working with the Year Four's during my time at Saltwater as well as held the leadership position as a Learning Specialist. Next year I will be within the classroom with 4G on Thursdays and Fridays, spending the remaining days coaching our Year Four team.
Throughout my career I have built students capacity to set personal learning goals and worked alongside teachers to extend their expertise in the area. In my role as Learning Specialist I have coached and mentored staff in our mathematics instructional model as well as other teaching practices.
Looking forward to meeting and working with you all.
Regards,
Deanna Kotevski
