Year Seven

Wood Technology

As the Term has now come to a close, Year Seven students have completed each stage of the design cycle and all have a Cerberus Lamp to show for their efforts. I would like to thank all students for their hard work this year and are looking forward to our classes and what they will be able to create in 2024.

Humanities

It has been a great learning journey with the Year Seven Humanities students this year. Their knowledge development and growth in their own abilities to determine factual, relevant information to their area of study has been inspiring. Students have explored the significance of understanding the ancient civilisations and the importance of learning how the world is shaped today from the advances made in each society. The images below reflect some of theseThe Humanities team wish them all the best in their learning for Year Eight.

Mathematics

As we bring the year to a final conclusion, the year 7 students have been enriched by engaging in numerous activities  in mathematics. They were involved in problem solving, statistical investigations, calculator calculations and mental recollection. From their report comments and progression points we can see that students have produced encouraging results.

Students have gained access to important mathematical ideas, knowledge and skills that they will draw on in their personal and work lives. In maths, students were encouraged to see themselves as life-long learners, that will support them in further study and research and in many other fields.

We have tried to get students to enjoy maths and see that there are the links between the various components of mathematics, as well as the relationship between mathematics and other disciplines. For example in Geography, interpretation of data underpins the study of human populations and their physical environments; in History, students need to be able to imagine timelines and time frames to reconcile related events; and in English, deriving quantitative, logical and spatial information is an important aspect of making meaning of texts.

Through emphasising these points students are aware of the importance of understanding maths.

All the best for the holiday period!
