Year Two

Hello Year Two Families,

We can officially see the finish line of the year, how time flies! Let’s see what the students have been up to over the last few weeks...

Reading

In Reading, we have been reflecting on our comprehension through a range of NAPLAN and Christmas Reading activities as well as looking into Christmas Reader's Theatre texts to help students' fluency skills and improve overall reading confidence.

Writing

In Writing, students looked back at writing persuasive texts and how we use certain persuasive devices to articulate our writing and persuade the audience. We used some exciting prompts to write persuasive texts and have still enjoyed creating prompts for narratives to explore our students' creative sides.

We made sure to write a letter to Santa and our new teachers for next year explaining all the amazing things about ourselves.

Mathematics

In Maths, students have been recapping Number and Algebra.  Students have been exposed to different place value games, enjoying fraction tasks and refreshing our memories of addition and subtraction. We have had the opportunity to solve some general math problems in a NAPLAN style format to support students as they head towards Year Three, with NAPLAN scheduled for Term One.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, our students have started researching and creating their own personal wonderings of the world. They worked hard to research, write facts and share their new thoughts.

Reminders:

  • Monday 18th December is transition day.
  • Tuesday 19th December is the last day for students.
  • There is no school on Wednesday 20th December.

We wish the students a lovely holiday! They have worked extremely hard this year and deserve a long-awaited break.

Kind Regards,

The Year Two Team.
