Year One

Dear Year One Families,

And just like that, we have reached the end of an amazing year! We are so proud of all the Year One students and would like to congratulate them all on their hard work this year!

It’s hard to believe that our Year Ones are moving up into Year Two and we will miss them! Students had their transition day on Monday 18th of December and were all super excited to meet their new teacher and class!

Christmas Carols

During Week 11, all Year One classes had their Christmas Carols Concert, it was a little bit different to usual due to the inclement weather, but it was so much fun! The Year Ones had all been practising very hard and you could tell that a lot of time and effort went into each performance. Every class did a fantastic job and loved performing in front of their peers on the big stage! I’m sure everyone will enjoy watching the concert!

End of Year Activities

Everyone has been enjoying a fulfilled last week of school and we have been completing a range of fun activities as well as having our end-of-year celebrations! Students have loved having their class parties and have all eaten way too much food!!

Reading

In Reading, students have been reading holiday-themed books and have been making predictions, inferring meaning, summarising, and visualising! We encourage all students to keep reading over the holidays and remind everyone to also discuss what you have been reading!

Writing

In Writing, students have written letters to Santa and have tried to persuade him to get them everything they want for Christmas! Good luck!! Students have also written a story based on a holiday-themed prompt. There have been some brilliant stories written! Finally, students complete a Christmas acrostic poem.

Mathematics

In Mathematics this week, students were revising previous topics and have been consolidating their knowledge of the following areas: Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Graphing, and Shape. We encourage students to continue to practise their Mathematics over the holidays using MyNumeracy on Essential Assessment!

Thank You

As we wrap up everything at school, we would just like to say a big thank you to each and every one of you for all your support and the assistance you have given us throughout the year. Please ensure you take the time to have a big rest over the break and enjoy the holidays with your family. We wish you all a happy and safe holiday!
