Middle Unit -2/3

What a fun two weeks we have had in the Middle Unit! Last week the Year 2/3 students attended the Middle Unit Day Camp at Lady Northcote Discovery Camp where they participated in an Amazing Race. Students worked in small groups to complete a series of challenges to earn points for their team. Even though the weather wasn’t in our favour, everyone had a wonderful day. Well done to Team One on the win too!

In Literacy, students have worked on identifying persuasive techniques in a text and used their understanding to write their own pieces. Literacy has crossed over with Inquiry this fortnight where students have also used different materials to create their own settings and characters from the narratives they have published. They used these to record and edit their own stop motion videos. Everyone is very excited to share these with you this week!

In Mathematics, students have applied their understanding of capacity, volume and mass to problem solve. Learning has been hands-on where they have used a range of different resources including containers, blocks and scales to support them in their learning.

The students also enjoyed investigating the properties of 3D shapes and how these shapes could be made using ‘nets’. Students designed 3D Robots made from several 3D shapes and used ‘nets’ to create their robots.

The students enjoyed the process and are very proud of their results.

We wish Everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe Holidays
