Congratulations to all of the students who received an award today at the Pre-primary to Year 3 Awards Assembly. Thank you to Miss Jenkins, Mr Bradshaw, Ms Coleman, and the Year 6 Student Leaders for all the organisation behind the scenes to make this a successful event.
Burrendah’s new principal has been appointed, Ms Sheri Evans. Ms Evans is an experienced principal who brings a wealth of knowledge to Burrendah PS as a result of leading several schools in both the north and south metropolitan areas. Ms Evans is delighted to be the new principal of Burrendah PS commencing on the 25th January 2024.
I met with the project team today regarding a new roof being installed on some of the older buildings at Burrendah PS. It is expected that the school hall and canteen will be the first two buildings to have the roof replaced with an A-frame design. This work is expected to commence on Monday 11th December, the last week of the term. There will be bunting around the areas being worked on which may mean alternative paths need to be used to move around the school.
Thank you to Brad Warburton, Gavin Turner, and Stephanie Webster for all of their work in their years on the Board. Burrendah was very fortunate to have such committed people being part of the Board. Congratulations to Mitchell Sherston, Sherelle Knight, and Rasha Abdelmonem, our new parent representatives from 2024.
Swimming Lessons will commence on the second day of Term 1 for most of the school. This includes the students in the classes with P/1, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4, and Year 6 students. As school commences on a Wednesday, we have swimming lessons starting on Thursday, giving 7 lessons for this group of students.
The students in the straight Pre-primary class, Year 3 and Year 5 including the Year 5/6 class will be attending in Term 3. They will have 10 lessons.
As class lists are not finalised until the beginning of the school year we have asked that all parents pay the basic amount for swimming lessons of $8 per day ($56) before the end of 2023. Medical forms and swimming forms are required before the end of the year for students in Pre-Primary, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4, and Year 6. Thank you to all of the families who have already paid for swimming lessons. Payment is to be made at Reception.
We have a new permanent school gardener who commenced this week, Ruth Jones.
We will be farewelling some staff at the end of this year. This includes several staff who were in fixed-term positions:
The following teachers have been successful in obtaining permanent positions at other schools
We wish staff who are leaving Burrendah all of the very best in their future endeavours. Every one of you made a lasting impact at Burrendah. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
Thank you to all of the parents/carers who came to our parent thank you morning tea last Friday. It was wonderful to see so many people who have helped make Burrendah a special school to belong to. Staff out did themselves with the delicious morning tea they made as a token of appreciation to our volunteer parents.
